This workshop will explore using poetry and story to discuss the ways in which we see ourselves and others. It will focus on the individual and endeavour to move backward through time and communicate with our past selves to create a space of healing and introspection.
All one would need: • 1x candle (don’t forget your matches or lighter) • 1x writing instrument (pen or pencil) • Pages to write on • 1x container of sorts which is suitable for burning incense • An open mind
Growing up black and queer in a low-income household in a conservative community, has led me to appreciate spaces of healing and intersectional work that are sustainable and that have an impact. I love connecting with new people and have worked in various industries which have allowed me to grow and facilitate discussions with multiple individuals from various walks of life. I currently work at ZeitzMOCAA, the largest contemporary African Art institution on the continent and look forward to bringing a creative perspective to this workshop.
